Loads of rain but just one tern

I was out early this morning, with a trough over the coast, lots of rain, moderate easterlies - seemed possible terns and other seabirds might be moving close inshore.

Went down to Nam Tan Wan, where I sat in front of the temple - sheltered from worst of the rain - and sea-watched from 6.20-7.20am (a guy who watches birds on Po Toi told me this is around the best time for seeing seabirds on the move): all I managed was a solitary, distant Black-naped Tern. So, went home - learned there was amber rainstorm warning in effect, and back to bed!
